October 10 2024 - Stan today announced that the brand new sci-fi drama series starring Alexander Ludwig (The Hunger Games, Vikings) and Jessica Frances Dukes (Ozark) from showrunner Todd Komarnicki (Sully) will premiere December 2, same day as the U.S. and only on Stan.

Based on the 1949 novel by George R. Stewart, Earth Abides follows the aftermath of a global plague of unprecedented virulence that sweeps the globe, leaving all but a few scattered human survivors. In the aftermath, as the great machine of civilisation slowly and inexorably breaks down, those that remain are left to struggle without rules, against the slide into extinction.

Earth Abides is based on the novel by George R. Stewart, which is published by Harper Voyager, an imprint of HarperCollins Publishers. Kearie Peak (American History X) and Academy Award®-winner Michael Phillips (The Sting), along with Juliana Maio, serve as executive producers. Komarnicki serves as writer and showrunner. Additional writers include Karen Janszen, Tony Spiridakis, Evan Hart, and Kyle Stephen. Bronwen Hughes is set to direct the pilot and episode two. Rachel Leiterman will direct episodes three and four, and Stephen Campanelli will direct episodes five and six.

Earth Abides is produced by MGM+ Studios and distributed worldwide by Amazon MGM Studios Distribution.

The brand new series Earth Abides will premiere December 2, same day as the U.S. and only on Stan.
