In attendance at the press conference included Perth's Jackson England (15-3) and his opponent Jamel Herring (24-4) who will face off in the main event for the WBO Global Super Featherweight title.
Also in attendance was the towering Alex Leapai Jr, who will make his long-awaited pro boxing debut after turning down a lucrative NRL career, with his father, iconic Aussie heavyweight Alex Leapai Sr in his corner - almost ten years to the day that he faced Wladimir Klitschko for the world heavyweight title.
Present at the press conference were AFL stars featured on Wednesday's card including Kane Cornes, Nathan Brown, Dane Swan, Dale "Daisy" Thomas, Anthony Rocca, Corey McKernan as well as Mitch Robinson and Kayne Pettifer.
Boxing royalty and former world champion Danny Green also joined the press conference to breakdown each fight with his vast knowledge of the game.
Key press conference quotes:
Alex Leapai Jnr:
"Preparation has been awesome, I'll just leave the nerves for the fight, looking forward to show what I can do."
Kane Cornes:
"I'm nervous, it's been a good experience. I've always enjoyed a good challenge, and this is probably the biggest challenge I've put my hand up for. We'll have a crack and see how we go. Everyone wants to see me get my head kicked in."
Nathan Brown:
"It's weird when you're mates with somebody, that you're going to jump in the ring and try and punch them in the head. Looking forward to it. I'm nervous for the first time since playing football. This has been the first time I've been able to get that adrenaline rush."
Dale Thomas:
"I'm looking forward to it like all the other boys. I do miss the thrill of walking out to a decent crowd, so I'm looking forward to that again. Win lose or draw, there will be a couple of 'suds' afterwards."
Dane Swan:
"I said it before, he [Dale Thomas] has to pay for his sins for going to Carlton! We're still mates, we'll have some beers after the fight, but when the bell goes, I'd rather punch him in the head than him punch me in the head. I want to try and use whatever skills I've learnt, good or bad, and use them on Wednesday night."
Jackson England:
"I'm so excited to be able to put on a big performance here in Adelaide, and for us to put on a big fight. I couldn't be happier to share the ring with a former world champion, it speaks volumes to myself as well, and I'm grateful to be in the position I'm in right now."
