AUSTRALIA STRIKES GOLD ON DAY ONE
- Thomas Gallagher has picked up the first Gold medal for Australia, taking out the Men's S10 50m Freestyle with Rowan Crothers also taking Bronze.
- Australia pick up four medals on the opening day in Paris.
- Australia started its campaigns in Wheelchair Rugby and Wheelchair Basketball.
- Athletics competition commences tonight at Stade de France.

AUSSIES IN ACTION - DAY 1
Swimming
- Australia picks up two medals in the Men's S9 50m Freestyle, with Thomas Gallagher taking the Gold and Rowan Crothers picking up Bronze. (link here)
- Lakeisha 'Lucky' Patterson claimed her eighth Paralympic medal with Silver in the Women's S9 400m Freestyle. (link here)
- Opening Ceremony flagbearer Brenden Hall took Bronze in the Men's S9 400m Freestyle, the third time he has medalled in that event in the last four Games. (link here)
Wheelchair Rugby
- The Steelers have been edged out by Great Britain in their opening match, going down 58-55 in a tight encounter.
Wheelchair Basketball
- The Rollers first Paralympic match in Paris ended in a 66-55 loss to Netherlands.
INTERNATIONAL HIGHLIGHTS - DAY 1
Para Cycling
- Netherlands and China each picked up two Gold medals on the opening day at the velodrome.
- Visually impaired Dutch rider Tristan Bangma (and pilot Patrick Bos) set a World Record in qualifying of the Men's B 4000m Individual Pursuit before going on to win the Gold medal race.
Taekwondo
- The Refugee Paralympic Team won its first medal in Paris, with Afghan-born Zakia Khudadadi taking Bronze in the Women's K44 -47kg division.
Swimming
- A truly international day at the pool, with 12 different teams winning gold from the 15 on offer.
- Ihar Boki, competing as a Neutral Paralympic athlete, won his 17th career Gold in the Men's S13 100m Butterfly, to move in to the top 10 most successful Paralympic athletes in history.
